No monitoring over waters in Abruzzo by Public Authorities, ISS says -after a decade, many allegations and two trials… And the new wells for drinkable water had been drilled downstream the largest toxic (and illegal) waste disposal in Europe.
According to the ISS’s report, Public Authorities knew the pollution danger since 2004 but no advise or alarm have been released so far, though WWF Abruzzo and Court of Pescara moved to unveil and investigate the issue in 2007.
But even a longer time ago, 1972, City House Member Giovanni Contratti asked Montecatini Edison to clean the waste dump in Bussi sul Tirino and adopt the necessary anti-pollution measures (read here in Italian).
