Strategic Lawsuits Against Public Participation (SLAPP)
The Commission Work Programme 2021 announced “action to protect journalists and civil society against strategic lawsuits against public participation” in the form of an initiative against abusive litigation targeting journalists and civil society (legislative or non-legislative), in the last quarter of 2021. This is one of the priorities of the European Democracy Action Plan adopted by the Commission on 2 December 2020.
